Certificate in Tutoring Sport
Game Angling Instructors Certificate
Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Angling (CCA - Game Angling)
Angling Development Board Licensed Coach and Coach Educator
Member of the Game Angling Instructors Association

Following successful careers in the Royal Navy and the NHS I now have embarked on a full-time game angling, coaching career. I have always been an angler; my first attempts were at pulling small perch from a local burn in my native Northumberland. Over the years I have taken to the art of fly fishing and although it began as a hobby it has now become a significant part of my life. I enjoy coaching – enabling beginners and improving anglers to achieve their potential. Whilst we all have blank days sometimes it is having the confidence, of knowing, that armed with the technical skills and underpinning knowledge, there are always going to be more successful days. It is important that game angling coaching pinpoints the best way an individual learns, which means that the Mid Norfolk School of Fly Fishing has structured programmes with clear outcomes. My colleagues and I have taken stringent assessment of our technical skills through the Game Angling Instructors Association (GAIA) and coaching qualifications through the Angling Development Board (ADB - the development arm of the Angling Trust). As a licensed ADB Coach Educator I am responsible for the delivery of Level 1 and Level 2 UK Certificate in Coaching Angling in all angling disciplines. I am a member of the management committee of GAIA; I provide the administration and play an active part in the development of the organisational standards of practice and assessment syllabuses..
My life-long learning means I have a continuing personal and professional development programme – this enables me to be up-to-date with the best practice in coaching as well as in angling.
