News
For September 2010
Fishing
during the hotter months is always hit and miss and often there
seems no logical reason why one angler will catch his or her limit
while others fishing the same tactics struggle! Ashford has been
fishing well overall but be warned there are hard days.
Trout
can often be tempted off the top this time of year using small dark
imitative patterns, but it won't be too long before flies such as
Hoppers and Daddies catch
With
the arrival of recent heavy rain the river level has risen and Meadow
is now back to normal levels and fishable again!
Willow
lake is crystal clear and while it has been stocked , it is a challenge
this time of year! But bear in mind that if you dont catch on Willow
you can take 4 stockies from Ashford or the stream
We are
open 7 days a week from 8:30am

Millers carp lake has been fishing extremely
well. The carp lake does tend to get booked up on weekends,
so book early to avoid disappointment.
James Noakes and his father fished Millers
for a week from the 12th to the 19th June and caught in excess
of a hundred fish between them
Please remember that EA Rod Licences for
the 2009-2010 season expire on the 31st
March. You can purchase the 2010-2011 Licence from your

Richard Winser's fishing report:
"I fished Willow on Saturday the 20th of March,
although due to the time of year there was some colouration to the
water, I was still able to spot three fish using polarised glasses.
The trout are deep at the moment, I suspect feeding
on blood worm or similar insects on the lake bed and appear to be
reluctant to chase flies unless presented in very close range.
I was able to stalk and cast to this fish which
is a long and lean over wintered 4lb specimen that took a Gold Ribbed
Hares Ear presented within inches of its nose.
The fly pattern had a gold bead head to increase
the overall weight and ensure the fly was presented quickly at depth." |

Martin Chandler's
fishing report:
".... the smaller fish was 15 lb exactly and
was caught on a spicy tuna boilie on the 10/07/2009 by my 17 year
old son Jordan Chandler. The second fish weighed in at 16 lb 12
oz and was caught on a Source boilie at 4 am on 10/07/2009 by myself.
We caught 20 fish between us in a 24 hour session, 14 carp between
9 lbs and 16 lb 12 oz, 5 tench between 3lb and 7 lb the later of
which was a personal best for my son and finally a roach of about
1 lb 8oz that had taken a 15 mm crab boilie !! All fish were caught
using Dynamite baits The Source, Spicy Tuna and Monster Crab 15
mm boilies fished with a small stick mix and 5 boilie stringer."
